After breakfast, transfer to Marangu Gate for registration before beginning your climb through lush rainforest rich with birdlife and monkeys.

A full acclimatization day with a short hike toward Mawenzi Ridge or nearby viewpoints around 4,300m before returning to camp.

This extra day significantly improves summit success rates.

DAY 05

Kilimanjaro Mountain

Horombo Huts (3,780m) to Kibo Huts (4,700m)

Trek across the alpine desert saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo Peaks to reach Kibo Huts, your summit base camp.

Hiking Time: 6 hours
Distance: Approx. 10 km
Altitude Gain: +920m

DAY 06

Kilimanjaro Mountain

Kibo Huts (4,700m) – Gilman’s Point (5,685m) – Uhuru Peak (5,895m) – Horombo Huts (3,780m)

Begin the summit attempt just after midnight. Climb steep scree slopes to Gilman’s Point, then continue to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa.

After summit celebrations and sunrise views, descend to Kibo Huts for rest, then continue to Horombo Huts.

Hiking Time: 12–14 hours
Distance: Approx. 22 km total

Horombo Huts (3,780m) to Marangu Gate (1,960m)

Descend through moorland and rainforest to Marangu Gate, where successful climbers receive summit certificates.

Transfer back to Moshi for overnight stay at Weru Weru River Lodge.
