Overview - The World’s Only Wildlife Capital Safari Park

Nairobi National Park is one of the most unique safari destinations in the world because it is located directly next to a major capital city. Situated just a few kilometers from downtown Nairobi, it offers a rare contrast where wild lions, rhinos, giraffes, and buffalo roam freely with a city skyline visible in the background. This unusual setting makes it one of the most accessible national parks in Africa.

The park features open grass plains, scattered acacia bushes, riverine forests, and seasonal wetlands that support a surprising diversity of wildlife. Despite its relatively small size compared to other Kenyan parks, it hosts a strong population of endangered black rhinos, making it one of the most important rhino sanctuaries in East Africa. The proximity to urban development does not reduce its wildlife value; instead, it enhances its global uniqueness.

Nairobi National Park is also a key conservation and education center. It is often used for short game drives, photography tours, and educational visits. Wildlife sightings include lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, zebras, giraffes, and over 400 bird species. The combination of urban skyline and wild nature creates one of the most surreal safari experiences in the world.
