Overview - Kenya’s Largest Wilderness Safari Experience

Tsavo National Park is the largest protected wildlife area in Kenya and one of the biggest in the world, divided into Tsavo East and Tsavo West. Located in southeastern Kenya between Nairobi and Mombasa, it forms a massive wilderness ecosystem that stretches across semi-arid plains, volcanic hills, lava flows, rivers, and dense bushland. Its sheer size creates a feeling of true wilderness where wildlife roams freely with minimal human disturbance.

Tsavo East is known for its vast open landscapes and the famous red-dust elephants, which appear reddish due to rolling in the park’s iron-rich soil. This section offers wide horizons, long sightings of wildlife, and a raw, untouched safari experience. Tsavo West, on the other hand, is more mountainous and scenic, featuring volcanic landscapes, Mzima Springs, and lush green pockets that contrast sharply with the dry terrain.

The park is home to a wide variety of wildlife including lions, leopards, elephants, buffalo, giraffes, hippos, crocodiles, and hundreds of bird species. Tsavo is also historically famous for the “Man-Eaters of Tsavo” lions that halted railway construction in the early 1900s. Today, it remains a powerful wilderness destination combining history, geology, and wildlife in one vast ecosystem.
