Kibo Huts are basic stone shelters located at 4,720 meters (15,500 feet) on Mount Kilimanjaro’s Marangu Route, serving as the final base camp before the summit attempt to Uhuru Peak. The huts offer simple dormitory-style accommodation with bunk beds and shared pit toilets, designed for rest and acclimatization before the challenging overnight climb to the summit. There is no running water or heating, and temperatures can be extremely cold, so proper gear and preparation are essential. Meals are typically prepared by trekking crews and served in a communal dining area, making Kibo Huts a functional but essential stop for climbers nearing the roof of Africa.
