Barranco Camp is a popular campsite on Mount Kilimanjaro, situated at approximately 3,960 meters (12,992 feet). Located at the base of the Barranco Wall, a notable volcanic feature, it serves as an overnight stop for climbers on the Machame, Lemosho, Shira, and Umbwe routes. The camp offers stunning views of the surrounding landscapes, including the Great Barranco Gorge. Facilities are basic, with no permanent structures; climbers sleep in tents. The camp’s position between the moorland and alpine desert zones provides a unique environment for acclimatization before ascending the challenging Barranco Wall the following day.
